AVR Scanners

AVR scanners in their time were at the cutting edge of flatbed scanning technology.
Unfortunately the AVR company does not exist anymore. It ceased operation in 1995.

PROSCAN Australia had plenty of spare parts and was able to service existing AVR scanners long after the manufacturer had ceased operation. Almost a decade after most AVR users purchased their scanner, we no longer service AVR scanners. We ended up throwing away most of our spare parts as the cost of repairing these scanners came too close to the cost of a new scanner.

For people wanting to use their AVR scanner on mid 90s operating systems we offer a technote on this matter outlining your possible options.

Drivers

The last driver for the AVR for windows 3.xx was AVR Scanpack 4.2.1  (950 Kb)

For the Macintosh it was AVR scanpack 4.2 (211 Kb) This is designed for the 68K & Quadra series. There is no native software for the Power Mac's also system 8.x is not supported.

If you still have an old AVR scanner, it will probably keep going if you clean the white calibration strip (remove the top lid - look for a white calibration strip under the lid) and replace the lamp (you can use a daylight lamp, e.g. NEC or Philips 8W).
