Nikon film scanners discontinued

Nikon has now discontinued production of 35mm film scanners.

There is no stock left of the Nikon Coolscan LS50ED (V ED) nor of the Nikon Coolscan LS5000ED.

Only the LS9000ED is still available while stock lasts (link), though it is significantly more expensive than the other models.

There are no replacement products from Nikon. Alternative products include:

Plustek Opticfilm 7600i Ai (link)

Microtek ArtixScan F1 (link)

Flextight scanners  (link)

Note, the above products are not directly comparable with the discontinued Nikon products.  Since Microtek, Polaroid, Minolta and now Nikon discontinued their film scanners, there is not a lot of choice left in affordable, good quality 35mm scanners.
