Is a plain Twain utility good enough to get the most out of your document scanner?
Most scanners come with entry level scanning software, allowing the operator to scan a document and save the electronic image in a user defined folder. Whilst sufficient for the home office user, these basic scanning applications are too unproductive for the business user who has to deal with a larger volume of paper documents.
If you need to scan more than 50 documents per day then you'll want to use a serious Batch Scanning application. One such product is EzeScan which includes those features commonly missing in the entry level scanning software. For example, EzeScan includes document separator page detection, reusable job types (templates), powerful automatic file naming, audit stamps and choice of output file formats including image only PDF and text searchable PDF.
Batch Scanning v Document Scanning
Batch scanning is like the turbo charged version of document scanning. Instead of scanning one document at a time, simply place a separator sheet between each document in the batch, and then put the whole batch in the scanner. Batch scanning using either separator pages, fixed page count or barcodes will help to dramatically decrease the labour time spent scanning the documents.
